Istanbul - October 2005

(photos from Andy Harris, Barbara Orhan  & Robert Johnson)

The visit to Istanbul was organised by OPAL (Orient Philatelic Association of London) I report it here for three reasons. Firstly, the president of Opal is Bash Orhan, who is a long established a member of our society. Secondly, many of the Opal members who participated in the trip are also member of the Italy and Colonies Study Circle. And thirdly, the city of Istanbul, under it previous name of Constantinople, is of considerable interest to those who study Italian philately.

On behalf of everyone I would like to offer many thanks to Bash and Barabara for organising such a great trip.
